BMW E9x M3 ECU replacement and removal Guide
Removal and replacement of the ECU in the E9x M3 is very simple task and takes only about 30 minutes. Here are the step by step instruction: removing driver side air conditioning filter cover. Air conditioning filter cover is a triangular box located just in front of the firewall. Remove the three screws holding air filter cover in place. Once removed the filter coverage will still be attached by an air temperature sensor. Let the sensor attached and simply rotate the filter cover for the road. Air temperature sensor is held on a rotating Lock ficture and two compression tabs. Do not pull on the wiring remove tabs compression.
